Endless Perspectives – Amsterdam

In April 2013 Does returned to Australia to present ‘Endless Perspectives’, a new body of work aiming to capture graffiti’s transient nature. He displayed his journey both as an artist and a person through forty canvasses centred around five cities close to his heart. A series of films by Stephan Polman and Rube Parthoens accompanied the artworks, allowing you to join him on this pilgrimage around the world seeking creative enlightenment.

The journey for his Endless Perspectives project started in the Dutch capital Amsterdam.

As if they were tourists in their own country, DOES and cameraman Stephan Polman rented a bike and roamed the streets of Amsterdam packed with camera gear and paint. While biking through the nostalgic Vondelpark and paddling in the Amsterdam canals, the day was rudely disrupted by rain, thunder and lightning; unpredictable as the weather in the Netherlands is. There was no other option than to hide in a typical Amsterdam pub on ‘The Wallen’, listen to folk singer André Hazes and watch drunken tourists go crazy, which produced some interesting footage.
